Library and Archives Canada
The Ontario Library Association contacted Library and Archives Canada to express concerns about section 4.4.2 of their Code of Conduct . The section deals with teaching, speaking at conferences and other personal engagements, and the language implies that staff will be extremely limited in their abilities to participate in these activities and associations. Staff responded stating the intention was to not limit participation in associations and conferences and have indicated that the code document is an iterative process and consultation regarding how the code is implemented is ongoing. The language will therefore be reviewed.
OLA remains concerned about the erosion of services and programs at LAC. The association is part of a users roundtable for various Library and Archives initiatives including InterLibrary Loan, the Union Catalogue, and the 150 year anniversary of Canada.
